Segro extends lease agreement with Ikea

Developer Segro has extended the contract with tenant Ikea in its industrial park in Hostivice. The unit serves as a dispensing warehouse for customers who have purchased the Scandinavian chain's goods at a nearby store in Prague's Zličín district. The Ikea outlet warehouse uses an area of 6,720 sqm. Real estate consultancy Cushman & Wakefield was involved in the lease extension.

The Ikea warehouse has been located in Segro Logistics Park Prague since 2014. It is popular among customers of the furniture chain due to its accessibility and short distance from the store itself.

Segro Logistics Park Prague offers up to 250,000 sqm of leasable space in 14 halls. It is located close to Václav Havel Airport and is connected to the city ring road and the D5 motorway towards Plzeň. It is also accessible by public suburban transport, which is appreciated by the tenants' employees and is an important aspect for the park owner in terms of sustainability.

"At Segro, we build on long-term partnerships with our customers, and this is a great example. Environmental sustainability is also very important to us. The park area is therefore continuously undergoing upgrades to meet the high standards of the international BREEAM certification. An example of this is the recent installation of charging stations for electric vehicles, which are located right next to the Ikea outlet warehouse," says Daniel Kubizňák, head of the Czech Republic at Segro. The charging stations can be used by Ikea customers, as well as all park clients and their guests. "We want to make our clients and their customers' stay with us more pleasant. This way, the time spent waiting for goods to be dispensed can be used efficiently by electric car drivers by recharging their cars. Growth based on low carbon production is one of our strategic priorities and we want to contribute to the development of electric mobility in the Czech Republic by building more charging stations," adds Daniel Kubizňák.

In developing industrial parks, Segro focuses, among other things, on creating green zones that promote biodiversity. In order to care for the environment, the company also started working with a local beekeeper a few years ago. He helps in the selection of greenery in the Segro Logistics Park Prague and regularly takes care of the beehive. Last year, with his participation, the company planted several trees next to one of the halls and landscaped an area intended for an orchard.

These are activities implemented within the Responsible Segro programme. Its long-term priorities are low-carbon growth, investing in local communities and the environment, and developing individuals' work skills.
