Cross-dock in Zdice shipped almost 140 thousand shipments in a year

The international logistics company Kuehne+Nagel has announced that more than 147,000 tonnes of goods of all kinds have already passed through its terminal in Zdice in the Central Bohemian Region during the first year of operation, with its employees handling almost 140,000 shipments.
The 6,020 m² facility has 58 loading bays, four drive-in bays and 18 truck bays. This supports high-volume and fast transshipments and minimises storage time - shipments unloaded from international lines in the morning are in most cases dispatched the same day.
"During the first year of operation in Zdice, we handled over 139,000 shipments. Thanks to precisely set processes and efficient team coordination, transhipment runs very smoothly - standard piece shipments stay in the terminal for less than 24 hours. Shipments with hazardous substances usually take even less time due to strict security measures," says Martin Froněk, Director of Kuehne+Nagel's Road Transport Division.
Digitisation, security and a bet on sustainability
One of the pillars of the efficient operation of the cross-dock in Zdice is the digitisation of logistics processes. The in-house transport system RoadLog is fully integrated with the online platform myKN, which enables customers to place orders, track shipments in real time and receive electronic delivery confirmations. By linking to EDI and using digital documentation, the entire process is not only transparent but also maximally efficient
"Of course, we also adhere to strict security standards. The terminal is certified according to the TAPA FSR standard, the entire area is continuously monitored by CCTV and only registered vehicles have access," adds Martin Froněk. More than 50 people are responsible for the smooth operation of the terminal on a daily basis.
The entire cross-dock terminal has been built to BREEAM standards, reflecting Kuehne+Nagel's commitment to sustainable logistics
"At the cross-dock, we have been monitoring our energy consumption for a long time and taking measures to reduce it. We use smart LED lighting, photovoltaic panels and handling technology with Li-Ion batteries," says Martin Froněk.
Charging stations for electric vehicles are also part of the equipment on the site, and infrastructure for charging trucks is being prepared as part of further development.
Road transport is a key segment for Kuehne+Nagel in the Czech market. In 2024, the Group handled approximately 351,000 shipments and more than 205,000 tonnes of freight within the Czech Republic. The main specialisations include international collection services, LTL and FTL transport, as well as storage and transport of valuable goods or temperature-controlled cargo.
